城市化能否减少居民交通能源消费?——基于中国城镇住户调查微观数据的分析

Will Urbanization Reduce Transportation Energy Consumption?——Evidence from China Urban Household Survey

摘要: 本文使用《中国城镇住户调查》的微观数据,实证检验城市规模和城市密度这两个城市化空间特征指标对居民家庭交通能源消费支出的影响。研究结果发现,从全国范围来看,不论城市规模还是城市密度均增加城市居民家庭的总交通费用支出,但也提高公共交通在日常通勤中的比重,表明现阶段我国城市化空间发展模式仅具有相对能源可持续性。城市密度主要通过改变通勤方式的内部结构来提高城市交通能源效率,但本质上并没有减少居民的交通费用支出。当前,我国东部地区城市发展应重点解决城市规划中的职住分离问题,避免大量通勤需求的产生,西部地区应加大公共交通的供给。

Abstract: This paper empirically tests the effects of the urban scale and the urban density on household's transportation expense by utilizing the micro-level data sets from the “China Urban Household Survey”. Results show that both the urban scale and the urban density have positive effects on household's total transportation expense at the national level, but both will raise the ratio of using public transport in daily commuting, which indicates that the spatial feature of China's current urbanization process is relatively eco-friendly. The urban density influences transportation energy consumption only by changing the structure of household's daily commuting modes. However, it will not substantially reduce the commuting distance of households. Currently, eastern areas should put emphasis on the separation of working places and residential sites so as to tackle the problem of increasing commuting distance, whereas western areas should focus on providing more public transportation facilities and networks.
