“Cradle” or “Obstacle”?——Analysis of the Moderating Effect of Seed Enterprises' Government Relations Capital on the Relationship between Market Position and Operational Performance

“保护网”还是“绊脚石”?——种子企业的政府关系资本在市场地位与经营绩效间的调节分析

Abstract: This paper first divides the seed market of county(city) areas into four categories: the initial market,the government-led market,the market-oriented market and the mixed market according to the two indexes, i.e. market maturity and market concentration, and then analyzes the influence of the market position on the operating performance and the moderating effect of government relations capital in different types of the market based on 287 copies of data from 8 seed companies' operating conditions in 136 counties (cities), 8 provinces (municipalities). The findings are as follows: The seed company's market position has a significant positive impact on the operational performance in all types except the mixed market; government relations capital plays a significant negative moderating role in the relationship between the market position and the operational performance in government-led and mixed markets; but in the market-oriented scenario, the moderating effect of government relations capital in this relationship is significant and positive.

摘要: 本文从市场成熟度和集中度两个层面分析县(市)区域的油菜种子市场,以此两个变量的高低值进行交互,将区域种子市场划分为初始型、政府主导型、市场主导型和混合型四类,基于对8家种子公司在8个省(直辖市)136个县(市)区域的287份调查数据,分析不同市场类型中种子公司市场地位对经营绩效的影响,并考察政府关系资本的调节效应。研究结果发现,除混合型市场外,种子公司的市场地位对经营绩效均具有显著的正向影响;在政府主导型和混合型市场中,种子公司的政府关系资本在市场地位与经营绩效间的关系中起到显著的负向调节作用;而在市场主导型市场中,政府关系资本正向调节市场地位与经营绩效间的关系。
