Abstract: The urbanization is an important support to promote the regional development . According to the China's development context and practice, local officials played a very significant and important role in the process of urbanization in China, even some scholars think that the China's urbanization should be named after the mayor's urbanization. To a certain extent, local officials is the important node of the current urbanization. From this perspective, this article uses DID to extract the net effect of the mayor in the urbanization, then tries to analyze how the local officials affect the local urbanization. The empirical analysis show that the local officials have significant positive effects on the urbanization.
