摘要: 使用世界银行的中国企业调查数据,检验了贸易自由化对工资差距的影响,实证分析结果表明,贸易自由化显著地提升了企业内工资差距。企业进口投入品的行为使其内部普通员工最高最低工资比提高约50%;使得总经理与中层经理的工资比提高约30%;使得中层经理与普通员工的工资比提高约12%到20%。进一步的分析表明,自由贸易使得企业对高技能劳动力的需求更高,更倾向于使用绩效工资,更有可能进行研发支出,更倾向于提供员工培训机会,更多地使用计算机,这些因素都导致了工资差距的上升。
Abstract: Based on Chinese enterprise survey collected by the World Bank, this paper examines the impact of trade liberalization on wage inequality. Empirical results show that trade liberalization significantly increases wage inequality. Firm’s intermediate inputs importing behavior increases highest to lowest wage ratio among ordinary workers by 50%, and increases wage gap between general manager and mid-level manager by 30%, and enlarges wage inequality between mid-level manager and ordinary worker by 12% to 20%. Further analysis suggests that firms’ trade participation is linked to higher skilled labor demand, more use of performance pay scheme, more R&D expenditure, more on-the-job training opportunities, and more usage of computer, which all contribute to rising wage inequality.
