Computing Power Infrastructure Construction and the Expansion of Enterprise Innovation Boundaries

摘要: 本文以2009—2024年A股上市公司为研究样本,探究算力基础设施建设对企业创新边界拓展的影响及作用机制。实证结果表明:算力基础设施建设显著促进企业创新边界拓展,且经一系列稳健性检验后依然成立,该效应在数字核心产业、高技术行业、高网络集聚度及算力区位综合条件较好的地区更明显;算力基础设施通过提升市场信息获取的广度和深度、增强数据价值挖掘能力、拓宽知识溢出渠道等拓展企业创新边界;企业创新边界拓展有助于突破关键核心技术,提升企业全要素生产率,培育企业新质生产力。上述研究为优化算力资源区域布局、推动企业拓宽创新路径提供有力的理论支撑和有益的政策启示。

Abstract: By using the samples of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2009 to 2024, this study investigates the impacts and mechanisms of computing power infrastructure construction on the expansion of firms innovation boundaries. The empirical results show that computing power infrastructure significantly promotes the expansion of firms innovation boundaries, and this finding remains robust after a series of robustness tests. The effect is more pronounced in advanced regions with digital core industries, high-tech sectors, high levels of network agglomeration, and in regions with superior comprehensive locational conditions for computing power. Mechanism analysis reveals that computing power infrastructure facilitates the expansion of innovation boundaries by enhancing the breadth and depth of market information availability, strengthening the capacity to extract value from data, and broadening knowledge spillovers. Further analysis indicates that the expansion of innovation boundaries helps firms to achieve breakthroughs in key core technologies and improves total factor productivity of enterprises, thereby fostering the development of new quality productive forces. This study provides theoretical support and policy implications for optimizing the regional layout of computing power resources, promoting diversified innovation pathways for firms, and cultivating new quality productive forces.
