进口竞争对企业工业机器人应用的影响研究——基于中国A股上市制造企业的经验证据

Research on the Impact of Import Competition on the Application of Industrial Robots in Enterprises: Empirical Evidence Based on Chinese A-share Listed Manufacturing Enterprises

摘要: 基于2011—2019年上市制造企业的面板数据,探究进口竞争对中国企业工业机器人应用的影响及其作用机制。研究结果表明:进口竞争显著促进国内制造企业应用工业机器人,经一系列稳健性检验后该结论依旧稳健;较之于来自高劳动成本经济体的进口竞争,来自低劳动成本经济体的进口竞争对企业工业机器人应用的促进效应更明显;进口竞争对企业工业机器人应用的影响存在行业、企业年龄、企业规模及地区市场化程度的异质性,通过引致行业内部竞争加剧促进企业工业机器人的应用。为此,要继续深化高水平对外开放,抓住进口竞争的机遇,通过工业机器人的普及推动中国制造业的转型升级。

Abstract: Based on the panel data of listed manufacturing firms from 2011 to 2019, this paper explores the impact of import competition on the adoption of industrial robots by Chinese firms and its mechanism of action. The results show that import competition significantly promotes the adoption of industrial robots by Chinese manufacturing firms, and the results remain robust after a series of tests. Moreover, import competition from low-labor-cost economies promotes the adoption of industrial robots more significantly than that from high-labor-cost economies. Meanwhile, the impact of import competition on the adoption of industrial robots by firms is heterogeneous depending on different industries, firm age, firm size, and regional marketization. In terms of the mechanism of action, the impact of import competition on the adoption of industrial robots by Chinese firms is also heterogeneous across different industries, firm age, firm size and regional marketization. In terms of the mechanism of action, import competition promotes the application of industrial robots in enterprises by leading to the intensification of competition within the industry. Based on the above results, this paper concludes that it is necessary to continuously deepen the high level of opening up to the outside world, seize the opportunity of import competition, and promote the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry through the popularization of industrial robots.
